We are also introduced to Aunt Josephine, played by the great Alfre Woodard. It also has a “wide window” that looks out upon the lake and has a major significance in the episode, much like the Reptile Room had in the previous two episodes. The Baudelaires, then, take the ever-convenient cab to Aunt Josephine’s house on a giant cliff overlooking the lake. In “The Wide Window: Part One,” the fifth episode of A Series of Unfortunate Events, the Baudelaires have been sent to live with their Aunt Josephine on Lake Lachrymose, a lake so large that it has its own hurricanes and leeches with a terrible hunger for human flesh, apparently!
